Nevada allegedly became a state in 1864. But is Nevada really a state of the Union? The 1st map is of the Territory that was acquired by the United States under the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo.

The Utah Territory as of 1851 is shown below. Compare the 1851 Utah Terriory to the 1861 Nevada Territory. Here we see that the bottom portion of what was later supposed to be part (Nye and Clark counties) of the state of Nevada is not a part of the "Utah Territory" or the "Nevada Territory."

Please consider the following information by taking a look at the maps of 1852, 1854, 1856, 1857 and 1860. Pay close attention to the area where Clark County and Nye County are located. Nevada began as Carson County which was a part of the Utah Territory.
